Mick is a Durham-based light artist. He received his first commission to produce a large scale light installation as winner of Artichoke’s ‘Brilliant’ programme for Lumiere Durham in 2011. Mick has now produced light installations for the last three Durham Lumiere festivals as well as Lumiere London
After doing undergraduate studies in art, Mick spent over 20 years in the music industry working with sound and light. Since his first commission for Lumiere, Mick has also produced light installations around the country.
In 2013 Mick was commissioned to produce a light installation for the international charity, Litre of Light. The simple idea of the charity was to use recycled plastic bottles to light people’s houses in the third world. Mick continues to support the work of the charity and, as part of Lumiere 2015, replicated Durham Cathedral’s Rose window using thousands of plastic bottles.
